Close Quarters - A near field navigation concept for the blind.
While guiding a blind person to their destination on the TTC, I was curious if there was another way to help someone though a small area without the complete guidance of another.
I came up with the idea of a mini GPS like system that would know the building you were in (via floor plans, sensors) and speak directions to you via a headset. The system could warn you of any obstacles in your way like stairs, polls, etc. and be used as a guide by setting way points in that building. Example: Setting “Boardroom 3 in Building 6” as a destination, you’d get a reply with “Head 13 feet ahead of you, take elevator to 3rd floor…”
This idea is far from perfect but could be a start to better guidance for the hard of seeing.

iPad 2 eh? More like iPad 1.5
Giving the iPad hardware such a low end update with no retina display and the same battery life makes this another cash grab. iPad 1 should have had the cameras in the first place. I’d give it a “Don’t Buy” for the fact that Apple thinks it’s customers are mindless drones that will buy anything. Seems like Apple’s changing into the thing that they feared most: Big Brother.
Apple’s losing touch with it’s customers. Give us value, not just another shiny thing.

A solution for St-Denis.ca’s flash problem.
So originally when going to my dads site: www.stdenis.ca on an iphone you’d get a large “broken plugin” icon. Now when you goto it, you see an iPhone like “business card” where you can call, email, or map directions to his studio right from that page.
Might include a “save contact button” to import all this info. :)
