Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.

5 People I’d like to have a beer with.

#5 Kevin Rose

The creator of Digg.com, Kevin Rose might be pretty young in the field of web start ups, but damn he’s hit a few game winning home runs. Currently the CEO of Digg.com, co-founder of wefollow.com (Yellow Pages for Twitter), Pownce.com(Social Microblogging platform, Sold to Six Apart) and Revision3 (a leader in creating solid internet tv). Kevin Rose has created and followed his goals to make even the most successful entrepreneurs question: “what the F am I doing wrong?” He does all this while still having a blast and drinking beers on his weekly video podcast Diggnation.

#4 Bill Gates/
Steve Jobs

Okay, I know I’m kinda cheatting here, but honestly, wouldn’t it be awesome to see these two in a room just talking smack, and chatting about where they failed and succeeded in life and work? Steve and Bill didn’t just invision a world with computers, they actually did it. Hats off to Billy boy though for predicting the iPad 3 years ago. I’d buy them both a shot.

3.) Jonathan Ives

Johnny is THE all star of the industrial design world. He’s been working for Apple since 1997, and has been inventing and reinventing the iconic designs of the iPod, iMac and the sexy MacBook lineup ever since. If there would be one modern industrial designer that you should respect and idol over, its Ives. Having a coffee or a beer with Johnny would probably give any industrial geek an iHardOn. Check out his appearance in Objectified, a documentary about ID.

2.) Stefan Sagmeister

If you’re not in tune with the world of graphic design, Sagmeister is pretty much the shit. He’s thought of things designers wish they would have thought of first. The Meister’s got creative work that sticks in your mind. He delivers unique and honest messaging thru any medium, and it works! The guy closes his studio and takes 1 year long sabbaticals every 8 years! He takes part of his retirement years and splices it into his working years, genious! Do yourself a favour and watch this TED talk about taking some time off.

1.) Richard Branson

This guy is the epitome of a successful and cool entrepreneur. He’s loaded, has a gorgeous island, smiles all the time and has a sweet perma-tan. His mega brand of awesomeness Virgin, is on all sorts of cool businesses; Music, beverages, telecommunications, trains, planes, and his often overlooked grand vision for space tourism. SPACE TRAVEL! This is the type of guy that gives entrepreneurs a good name, be happy and follow your “out of this galaxy” ideas, no matter who tells you otherwise.

He’s got a good book on how he approaches business too. :)
